Danica Boyd, Counselor

Counseling is a Gift to Yourself.

Imagine the careful considerations you make as you choose a gift for someone’s birthday or Christmas gift, the attention to detail as you wrap it with tenderness and love, and the exciting moment as you present this gift to the special person.  Imagine how you feel when you are the person receiving this gift.

Counseling is presenting a gift to yourself each time you enter into that space.  Learning about yourself, paying special attention to your intricacies, needs, challenges, strengths, heartaches, and desires.  Tending to these parts of you, wrapping them in empathy and understanding.  Uncovering parts you have not noticed, have hidden, or have not understood.  Although it can take time, it is a beautiful and worthwhile endeavor and process.  Presenting yourself with the best version of you to carry into the world, to your home, to your community, to the ones you love.

In counseling, you are safe and free to explore who you want to be and who you want to present to the world around you.  This is accomplished through building a relationship with me, gaining mutual trust, and working together to navigate emotions, find empowerment and discover what will bring you inner peace and joy.

I believe in the power of relationships as a catalyst for healing and growth.  Humans were created to connect.  That begins with your relationship with yourself.  I would love to help you open, understand and delight in that gift to yourself through counseling.

My background

Before pursuing my master’s in Clinical Mental Health at the University of Mississippi, I worked in various educational vocations with adults and children.  I have been trained in telemental health and am in the process of my Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) training.  I am a proud Mississippi native, rooted in Oxford for 17 years. When not in the office, you can catch me planning my next travel destination, engaging in lively board game sessions with my family, sipping way too much coffee, or walking my spunky and sweet goldendoodle.
